I met my husband while he was working on a pipeline job in Ohio. I have decided not to tell the story of how we met. I would like that to be something we keep for ourselves. What I can say is that the first time we met, I wanted nothing to do with a “dirty pipeliner”. That was the nickname my friends gave to him and all of his pipeline counter parts when they showed up in our small town. They had money, bad reputations and a shelf life of three to six months. Even with all of those strikes against him, I fell hard. I fell so hard, that I packed up my life of 24 years and moved to Texas with him after the job ended. Five years, three pipeline jobs, a wedding, a house, two babies and mass amounts of animals later, life is amazing. It can also at times, be a lonely one.
